There
are over 1,300 J/22's now sailing in 61 active
fleets in eight countries on three continents.
Recognized by the ISAF, the International J/22
Class Association promotes activities and regattas
worldwide. For class racing, sails are restricted
to a main, small jib and spinnaker with total
maximum crew weight of 605 lbs.
On
the Chesapeake Bay, there are 70 - 80 J/22s.
In Annapolis can be found the heart of the Chesapeake
fleet, with 50 boats. Other strong fleets are
in Baltimore, Oxford, MD and Hampton, VA.
