NOTICE
OF RACE

The
entry form will be available the week of March 30th with the new
AYC Race Management System.
Organizing Authority:
Special Events Committee, Annapolis Yacht Club
Rules:
All races shall be governed by the 2001-2004 Racing Rules of Sailing
(RRS) except as any of these are modified by this Notice of Race
and the Sailing Instructions.
Eligibility
and Entry:
Only Annapolis Yacht Club members may enter the Wednesday Night
Races (WNR). Applicants for membership approved by the Membership
Committee may be approved to enter subject to review by the Rear
Commodore. The person entering a boat must agree to be an active
participant on the boat for the WNR.
Any
person entering a boat SHALL attend a mandatory safety seminar
prior to racing in any WNR. Entrants may attend either one of two
seminar dates: April 16th and 22nd at 1900 at AYC. This seminar
Requires Prior Registration - call the AYC front desk to register
for one of these dates. Failure to attend one of these safety seminars
will result in rejection of entry (subject to review by the AYC
Rear Commodore).
Registration:
Entry
Forms will be available on this site and at the AYC front office.
Early registration is requested by the race committee and is strongly
recommended since safety considerations may limit the number of
boats accepted for racing.
Non-Member
Crew Registration:
A crew list of non-members should be submitted with the boat registration
on the form that will be available on this web site or at the AYC
front office. Wednesday night guest cards will be issued for all
non-AYC crew members. Use of the cards is specified on the form.
Entry
Fees:
$75.00 through April 24th, 2003 (Member charge only)
Late Entries: $100.00 after April 24th, 2003 (Member charge only)
Schedule:
AYC WNR Safety Seminar: April 16th, 2003 @1900 hours
AYC WNR Safety Seminar: April 22nd, 2003 @ 1900 hours
Skipper's Meeting: April 30th, 2003 @ 1700 hours
First Half Racing Begins: Following Skipper's Meeting. First signal
1805
First Half Racing: April 30th through June 25th
Lay Day: July 2nd
Second Half Racing: July 9th through September 3rd
Last day of racing: September 3rd
Measurement:
Boats must comply with their Class Rules. The most recent valid
rating certificate for handicap classes shall be on file with the
AYC Special Events Race Committee in order for a boat to be scored.
Sailing
Instructions:
The Sailing Instructions (including Course Sheets) will be available
at the AYC front desk on April 23rd, 2003. Final class breaks and
starting sequence will be announced at the Skippers Meeting.
Scoring:
Each race will be scored using the Low Point Scoring System, ISAF
Appendix A, except each race will be scored individually and no
series score will be kept (This deletes RRS A2 and modifies RRS
A1, A4, A8 and A9).
Classes:
The number and type of boats entered will determine the final starting
sequence. One Design Classes wishing to be scored as a class must
have 5 or more entries and must obtain Race Committee approval.
Separate Sailing Instructions and courses will be applicable to
Herreshoff 12 ½'s.
The
final starting sequence and Class splits will be announced at the
Skippers meeting. The following class splits and starting sequences
are provisional.

Times above are Starting times. The First Signal is scheduled to
occur at 1805.
