02/28/01
John Bertrand, co-skipper of Zephyrus V, drove the 86' boat to a record finish in the Montego Bay Race (Pineapple Cup). Zephyrus V beat a 32 year old elasped time record for the race, completing the 811 miles in just over 2 days and 23 hours. Sailing with Bertrand as watch captain was Larry Leonard. Zephyrus V also won the overall Pineapple Cup Trophy. Bill Kardash won Class B of the race with his Swan 44 Aura.

02/28/01
Townley Everette raced with David Bonney on his J/24 Tribal Pleasures at the St. Petersburg NOOD Regatta and finished 4th out of 28 boats. Margriet Mitchell sailed with Paul Andersen on his J-29 Titillation, also finishing 4th in class.

02/21/03
John Sherwood was top grand master of the 2003 Star Masters Regatta sailed at Coral Reef Yacht Club in Miami, Florida. Forty-two boats with skippers over 50 competed, with top Star sailors crewing. Sherwood, sailing with Bob Schofield, finished 9th overall and won his division for over-60 skippers, edging out John MacCausland Sr. and Jr.. The regatta also had three skippers competing in the Venerable Exalted Grand Master class - over 80 years old.

Also competing from AYC were P/C Karl Von Schwarz and Rob Shapiro.

02/18/03
Scott Nixon, sailing with Andy Horton and AYC Junior Sailing Head Ted Kaczmarski, took second in the 56 boat J/22 Midwinter Championship sailed at Southern Yacht Club in New Orleans. Nixon was tied for first after six races and two days with the current world champion, Terry Flynn, but finished behind Flynn in the last race.

Geoff Ewenson placed 5th (1st American) in the 34 boat Finn Class in the Miami Olympic Classes Regatta. Terry Hutchinson and Andrew Scott also finished 5th (4th American team) in the 68 boat Star class. Ewenson is ranked #2 on the US SAILING team in Finns and Hutchinson/Scott are looking to return to the team for the Star class after taking a year off to compete with Stars and Stripes in the Louis Vuitton Cup.

Two AYC boats won their class at Key West Race Week. Tsunami, sailed by Ostberg/Aras/Dailey was 1st in PHRF 3,and Brian Lees and Jeff Gastrau won PHRF 7 with Invincible. Second in PHRF 7 was Bert Carp's Remedy. Andy Wilson's Tripp 38 Fitikoko was Boat of the Day on the first day of racing and finished 2nd in PHRF 5. Larry Bulman/Winston's Javelin was 2nd in the IMS class, Steve Phillips' Le Renard was 7th in the Farr 40 class and Bruce Gardner's L'Outrage was 5th in PHRF 6. In the Melges 24 class, Scott Nixon drove Kilroy to 7th place in the 60 boat fleet, helped by Andrew Scott, crew, and Ted Kaczmarski, coach. Ron Weed also competed in the Melges 24 class with Foursquare Spiced Rum.

Steve Phillips steered Le Renard to win the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship, sailed at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas. Over four days of competition, Phillips turned in single-digit finishes in all but one of ten races sailed by the 25 boat fleet.

Phillips, the current Farr 40 East Coast champion, credited his tactician Mark Reynolds, a three-time Olympic medallist from San Diego, with keeping the crew on track to victory. Phillips finished with 61 points overall and a 22-point lead over second-place finisher Daneen Demourkas' Groovederci. Samba Pa Ti, skippered by John Kilroy of Los Angeles, finished third.

Tucker Thompson and crew competed in the 54th annual Bermuda Gold Cup Match Race iin International One Design (IOD) class sloops. He was one of six (of 16) skippers that advanced from the qualifying round into the main event to race against the top world's ranked match racers.

10/11/02
Scott Nixon and AYC's Junior Sailing Coach, Ted Kaczmarski, finished 13th in the 60 boat 2002 J/22 World Championship. Also traveling to Corpus Christi, TX for the event were Ray and Jen Wulff, who finished 14th overall.

10/06/02
John Sherwood, sailing with Art Libby and Pat Nolan, finished 10th at the 2002 International Masters Regatta hosted by St. Francis YC in San Francisco. The regatta was sailed in J/105s with the skipper over age 60 and all crew over age 45.

Tucker Thompson competed in US Sailing's National Match Race Championship (Prince of Wales), sailed in Sonars, at Seawanhaka YC at Oyster Bay, NY, finishing 7th overall.

9/28/02
Steve Phillips won the J/105 North Americans at Chicago YC (50 boats). Alex Cutler was 4th, winning three of the 7 races and taking two thirds, but had to include a DNF of 51 points in the no throw-out regatta.

9/22/02
Tucker Thompson finished 4th at the Grade 2 Ficker Cup Match Race in Long Beach, CA.

9/19/02
John White finished 2nd at the J/30 North Americans at Cedar Point YC and the Rutsch family was 5th.

Larry Leonard won the Swan Cup, sailed at Puerto Cervo, Sardinia, with Fast.Net, a new Swan 70, Geoff Ewenson was tactician on the 2nd place boat, Lolita, a Swan 56. Also competing was Matt Beck on Orfeo.

9/15/02
Scott Nixon, sailing Kilroy, took 3rd at the 29 boat Melges 24 National Championship in Traverse City, MI.
